About Me

Tariqa Manji is a graphic designer and illustrator. She earned her Bachelor of Design from OCADU in Toronto, Ontario in 2014. She was born and raised in Toronto and has lived abroad in places such as Singapore and Los Angeles.

As a young adult, drawing and painting allowed her to communicate her ideas and illustrate her imagination. Travelling at a young age allowed her to learn about different cultures, people and ways of living. She created pieces that raised awareness of worldly issues and juxtaposed conditions in the West and East.

Inspired by street art and graffiti, she has created her own letterforms and characters utilizing line work, form and colour. Through this experimentation she has found a way of showcasing her typography through signage and logo design. Tariqa’s affinity toward the handmade aspect of creating has allowed her to explore card making as well as embroidery to make pieces that focus on traditional technique and workmanship.

Tariqa’s graphic design work focuses on developing brand identities. This includes logo ideation, creating graphic standards as well as print and digital collateral for businesses and charitable organizations.

Tariqa lives and works in Toronto where she continues to freelance.
